FIJI ECONOMY

Sugar is the big appeal of the island, is cultivated mainly for the Indian population in the coastal plains of Viti Levu and Vanua Levu. The production reaches 200,000 tons of sugar a year. The following Copra production is grown mainly by the indigenous population. The main crops essential for food in Fiji are tubers (taro, sweet potatoes).

 

In Viti Levu, there are mines of gold and manganese, but a rather small.
